Private Champagne Day Trip: Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot

4.8 (38 verified reviews)

About This Experience

Two of the biggest names in Champagne in one day, visited properly rather than in passing, with a private car and driver-guide for your party alone. This is the itinerary to book when the houses matter more than the price.

Pick-up is at 07:30 from your Paris hotel in a Mercedes E220 for two or three guests, or a Mercedes minivan for up to seven. The drive east takes about two hours with a rest stop.

Moët & Chandon comes first, from 10:00. You choose your tasting tier when booking: the Grand Vintage experience runs 1.5 hours with two vintage glasses including the Grand Vintage Rose, or the adults-only Moët Collection runs two hours in a group of six or fewer with Grand Vintage Blanc and Grand Vintage Collection Blanc. Both include the underground cellars.

Lunch is in Epernay, then Hautvillers for the abbey church of Saint-Sindulphe, where Dom Perignon is buried, and the panoramic viewpoint over the Marne valley vines.

The afternoon is Veuve Clicquot in Reims, again with a choice: 'Une Seule Qualite' pours four cuvees over 1.5 hours, or 'L'art du vieillissement' runs two hours as a comparative tasting including a 2002 vintage in magnum and a Cave Privee 1990 with a cheese selection. A short stop at Reims Cathedral follows, and you are back at your Paris hotel around 20:00.

What Travelers Say

Rated 4.8/5 by 38 verified GetYourGuide travelers.

Alexander, our excellent driver, was super attentive and punctual. The experience was very charming at both tastings.

— Lilia Isela Loya, June 28

Our driver Vadim could not have been hospitable & helpful & he ensured we had an awesome day. The experiences at Moët Chandon and Veuve were fantastic & we thoroughly enjoyed the drive to see the countryside of France as well as Paris.

— Shaun, Novembe

Roman was amazing all day! From The pick up early in the morning until the late drop off a maneuvered through some pretty heavy traffic, but was great with lots of patience at each of our stops. Both Champagne locations were a world class experience as we checked out both that had caves . Will definitely book again in the future!

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot both guaranteed?

Yes — unlike the group day trips, which visit whichever prestige house has availability, this private itinerary is built around confirmed visits to both houses, with a guided cellar tour and tasting at each.

What do the tasting tiers change?

At Moët you pick between the 1.5-hour Grand Vintage tasting (two vintage glasses, up to 10 people) and the two-hour adults-only Moët Collection (up to 6 people). At Veuve Clicquot you pick between 'Une Seule Qualite' (four cuvees, 1.5 hours) and 'L'art du vieillissement' (two hours, comparative, includes a 2002 magnum and Cave Privee 1990 with cheeses). Price is tiered accordingly.

Is lunch included?

No. Lunch in Epernay is at your own cost, as are drinks outside the tastings and gratuities. Bottled water and all house fees and taxes are included.

What vehicle is used?

A Mercedes E220 business-class saloon for two to three guests, or a Mercedes minivan for three to seven. The vehicle is yours for the day — this is a private departure, not a shared minibus.

How long is the day?

About 12.5 hours: pick-up at 07:30, back in Paris around 20:00. It is the longest itinerary on this site, and the extra hours go into the two full house visits rather than into driving.
