Paris: Champagne Day Trip with Tastings, Cathedral & Pickup

About This Experience

The fullest itinerary of the group tours here: two producers, two towns, a blind tasting and a three-course lunch, with pick-up and drop-off at your own hotel door so there is no early-morning metro to a meeting point.

The minibus heads first to Epernay, the town that sits on top of more than 100 kilometres of chalk galleries. You tour one of the prestige houses — Moët & Chandon, Mercier, Veuve Clicquot, Taittinger, Nicolas Feuillatte or Boizel, subject to availability — with a guided cellar walk and a tasting of the house cuvees.

Then comes the Avenue de Champagne itself, the short stretch of grand facades that is often called the world's most expensive street because of what is stored beneath it. There is time to walk it and photograph it before lunch.

Lunch is a three-course French meal at a local restaurant, included in the price. The afternoon moves to smaller family estates, where the guide sets up a blind tasting in a vineyard setting — the point being to taste the difference between a large house's blended consistency and a grower's single-village character rather than just to drink more.

The last stop is Reims Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the coronation church of the French monarchy, before the drive back to your Paris hotel.

Literally had the best time with my Mom and I. There was a phenomenal group, Max was incredible, the food was life changing and I learned so much about champagne. i would HIGHLY highly recommend for anyone coming to visit Paris for the first time. I feel like this is the type of activity I’ll talk about forever

— Alexis, August

Max our guide was fantastic and we met lovely people. A very enjoyable day was had and we managed to fit in a visit to Moët so the combination of small boutique winery plus one of the famous classic houses along with the machine of Nicholas Feuillate was a good combo. A lovely finish up in the vines. Thank you

— Mel, August

The tour was incredible. Champagne is simply perfect! 🥂 Our guide, Max, was amazing. He knows the region incredibly well and was exceptionally kind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I definitely visit Moët & Chandon?

Not guaranteed. The operator books whichever prestige house has slots on your date — Moët & Chandon, Mercier, Veuve Clicquot, Taittinger, Nicolas Feuillatte or Boizel. Requests are noted and accommodated where possible but cannot be promised, because the big houses release visit slots on their own schedule.

Is the 3-course lunch really included?

Yes, a three-course traditional French lunch at a selected local restaurant is included in the ticket price. Drinks beyond the tour's tastings, souvenirs and gratuities are not.

Can children join this Champagne tour?

The listing is not suitable for children under 16. Guests under 18 who do join are served non-alcoholic alternatives such as grape juice during the tastings.

Where does the tour pick me up?

At your hotel or accommodation in Paris, and it returns you to the same address. Confirm your exact address with the operator after booking — pick-up times vary by district.

How much of the day is spent driving?

About four hours in total, roughly two each way between Paris and the Champagne region, out of an 11-hour day. Transfer times are approximate and traffic on the A4 can stretch them.
